About BelaBela Qurries

Belabela Quarries is an aggregate quarry situated just 15km from Gaborone, Botswana. The quarry was founded in 2003 by Neils Schultz, Constance Molefi and Blackie Marole. It was a minor quarry in the Gaborone area.

Under new leadership, company procured new equipment and increased its production capabilities significantly. It is now the largest quarry in Botswana, by volume of material sold. Since the plant changed ownership it has increased its output from approximately 13000t per month to around of 45 000t per month. This catapulted the quarry to become Botswana’s largest in terms of market share and production.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

A decision was taken by our new board in April 2015 to consolidate and formalise our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) budget to projects that benefit the community as a whole and not just individuals. The Councillor of Matebele Village and the Kgosi, Councillor Ncube and Kgosi Ndaba approached us to contribute to the development of the village. We agreed to their request provided it met our CSR objective. Shortly thereafter they approached us with an idea to build a reception block in Matebele Primary.

The proposal impressed our board particularly because it would have a positive generational impact for the entire community. Matebele residents generally do not have sufficient resources to take their kids to private kindergarten; as such they often start primary school at a somewhat disadvantaged level. We therefore committed P300, 000 to pursue the project, however we ended up having to spend P800,000 to complete the reception block structure and furnish it as well.

I’d like to thank the Directors of Belabela Quarries for this remarkable contribution. As minister, improving the level of education in Botswana is me key task. The introduction of pre-school in govt schools is a hallmark of her tenure. - Hon. Dr. Unity Dow (Minister of Basic Education) in brief.
